Asking your BBQ Caterer Questions
What to ask any caterer before signing the deal. It is important to ask questions, review the contract, research reviews and thoroughly understand what you get before saying "I do" to your caterer.
What to ask your prospective caterer?
- Ask about pricing options including minimums, service charges, gratuities, and payment terms.
- Ask who can attend tastings and if there are any fees involved.
- Ask who will be the point person at the event and what other staff will be present.
- Ask about who takes care of setup, bussing the tables, and cleanup. If they are included in the service or additional charges.
- Ask what items are included and what you need to purchase or rent such as linens.
- Ask about the time the caterer needs for setup & cleanup.
- Ask what happens with extra or leftover food.
- Ask when your final guest count is needed.
- Ask if they offer cake cutting and if that is included or an extra charge. There is also information needed from the baker.
- Ask if they have insurance and are licensed by the local health department.
Details:
- Know your date, venue, guest count, budget, formality, menu ideas, special requests, late night snacks, and dietary restrictions.

Things to consider:
